Olga Fernández

Researcher - Spain

Olga is a Spanish national currently living in the UK. She joined the IWB team as a Researcher in October 2015. She studied Law at the University of A Coruña, in Spain obtaining her LLB diploma in 2011. In 2013, she undertook a twelve-month European Voluntary Service in Birmingham, supporting adults with learning disabilities, an experience that increased her willingness to help vulnerable collectives and influenced her decision to specialize in the field of human rights. In October 2015, she finished her LLM in International Human Rights Law at the University of Essex, where she had the opportunity to get involved in legal research for the first time while interning for the World Health Organization. During the summer term, she also undertook a Legal Research Internship at Business & Human Rights Resource Centre in London, having the opportunity to gain insight into the professional human rights defenders world and to get a deeper knowledge on the topic of human rights issues in practice. Olga’s mother tongues are Spanish and Galician, she is fluent in English and can speak Italian and Portuguese to an intermediate level.
