Vice-President and IWB FOR REFUGEES RESEARCHER - DENMARK
Emilie was born in Denmark but currently lives in the UK, and has previously lived in Spain and Argentina. She holds a BA in History and Politics from Queen Mary University of London and an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice from the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York. She has worked and volunteered in the NGO sector since 2006, and has had a special interest in refugee issues since 2011.
At present, Emilie works with unaccompanied asylum seeking minors in South East England. She has past experience in human rights campaigning and volunteer management, and has previously conducted research with refugees in Germany and Malaysia. In 2016, she took part in a research project assessing the safety and security of human rights defenders in different parts of the world.
Apart from Danish, Emilie is fluent in English and Spanish, knows basic German and French, and has recently taken up learning Arabic.
